Kaboom: Notes From Coolville

The Batman Reborn story arc has started with Batman and Robin #1, Red Robin #1, Streets of Gotham #1, and Batman #687.  We are quickly running out of these hot new titles and expect reorders to be 2nd prints.  So come on in and pick this new story up before its too late.

Marvel adds to  its Issue 600 run with Captain America this week.  Chris Claremont gets another shot at his X-Men story with X-Men Forever which picks up where he left the X-Men when he started that title.

We have been hard at work getting more back issues and variants on the wall this week for you.  Coming soon Silly Saturdays (daily specials for saturdays only).  We received yugioh ID cards from Konami this week along with their scanner and online tournament sanction software but no UPC stickers for the player cards.  Go Figure!!

Gaming and comic supplies had a big restock this week as well - deck protectors, deck sleeves, comic bags and boards.

Raging Battle sneak peak went great.   We had 32 players ranging in age from 11-37 and sadly had to turn some away.  Next time we will be ready for more players and would like to see 50 people.

Mark your calendars for Sunday May 3rd at Kaboom! Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (KDE) is gearing up for its second Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) Sneak Peek event, Raging Battle. The Raging Battle booster set will be available nationwide on May 12th for hobby stores and major retailers not participating in the Sneak Peek event.

President-elect Barack Obama will appear on the cover of a Jan. 14 bonus issue of Marvel Comic’s Amazing Spider-Man series, perhaps fulfilling his other childhood dream.

Obama has said he collected Spider-Man comics as a child, and fellow comic book enthusiasts are excited about the prospect of having one of their own in the White House.

“How great is that? The commander in chief to be is actually a nerd in chief,” John Quesada, Marvel’s editor in chief, told the Associated Press. “It was really, really cool to see that we had a geek in the White House. We’re all thrilled with that.”

Adding to his nerd status, AP reports Obama’s Senate Web site also used to have a photo of him posing in front of a Superman statue.

According to AP, in the comic Spider-Man alter-ego Peter Parker is taking photographs at the inauguration before spotting identical Obamas. He decides “the future president’s gonna need Spider-Man” and uses basketball to determine which Obama is the real one, and punches out the imposter.

The real Obama thanks Parker with a fist-bump.

While presidents have appeared in passing in Marvel comics, Obama is likely the first to have a starring role. The comic costs $3.99 and is expected to sell out. GEE, YA THINK?
